Trendy movie fixes your necessary thing in life for feeling like you’re a real person? Then besides IFC in NYC, there’s the MFA in Boston, or I should have said, BC (Boston City). Well, anyway, falling in or falling out of trends, all things seem hopeful for some good times or a plan for one.

SUN DRIED TOMATO PESTO PASTA WITH BALSAMIC GRILLED VEGETABLES

Pesto and pasta is a classic combination. And pesto has always been my favorite. Remember my first recipe on the blog? But this time here’s a pesto with a slight twist. My latest cooking discovery is “sun-dried tomatoes”. Sun dried tomatoes are nothing but ripe tomatoes that are salted and dried to preserve.

MINESTRONE SOUP

Whats better than having a steaming bowl of homemade minestrone soup for dinner after a long day? Incredibly rich and flavorful, this minestrone soup is as hearty as it is beautiful. A minestrone is an Italian soup made with fresh vegetables, tomatoes, beans, herbs and pasta. It is made with minimal effort and the end result is a wholesome and healthy soup.

RATATOUILLE WITH SPAGHETTI

There are lots of dishes that, ever since I have found my passion in cooking, I have wished to make for myself and then, recreate in my own way… Ratatouille is one of the dishes that comes under the list. I have long since been fascinated with this one. The very name suggests freshness, vibrancy, colors and flavors.

GRILLED VEGGIES & HUMMUS TART

How pretty is this hummus tart! And trust me not only is it a treat to look at but is incredibly delicious too. At times I am amazed at how a few simple ingredients can bring out such delicate and interesting flavors. This tart starts with a flaky puff pastry crust that’s crisp yet melts in your mouth and is brimming over with hummus and roasted vegetables. It’s extremely tasty, plus is super easy to make for dinner and impressive enough to serve at a dinner party. The rich, hearty flavors make this a recipe for all to enjoy.

Italian Bean Soup Recipe [Zuppa di Fagioli con Crostino]
Authentic Italian Recipes from Nonna Box
Similar to minestrone, this hearty, authentic Italian bean soup is perfect for a chilly evening.
A thick slice of toasted bread, or crostino, adds crunch, and canellini beans provide an excellent source of protein and a creamy texture.
Garlic, rosemary, and a pinch of Calabrian red pepper flakes give this soup its delicious, comforting flavor. If you have some on hand, you can even garnish each bowl with a sprinkle of grated pecorino romano.
Tip: After soaking the beans, remember to drain off the starchy liquid and rinse the beans well before adding them to the soup pot.
This soup is a variation of the classic pasta e fagioli, but it is made without the addition of pasta.
The grilled crostino soaks up the broth and adds to the comforting feeling you get when enjoying this dish.
It?s a perfect main course for a cold night, and…

I would probably replace the white cheddar with brick to add some milder bite to the cheeses; or else I wouldn’t mind exchanging it for colby, (which, being a mild yellow cheese, breaks up the white pizza color scheme). But anyway, all the cheeses here are biting and I would prefer something a little mild in the bite. However, I could see many people wouldn’t prefer that. Just putting it out there.
Scrumptious Stuffed Omelette
This easy to make fluffy and filling omelette is great for breakfast or brunch.
This recipe is ideal if you want to cut down on carbs as it is quite filling on its own and you can skip on eating bread along with it.
I made this after church on Sunday for brunch and my son ‘inhaled’ his meal with a glass of milk. I had mine at a more sedate and civilised pace with a lovely cup of tea.
Filled with red onions, green peppers and any left-over meat or sausages adds amazing flavour to this dish.
You can vary the taste by using different meats of your choice. The combination of the red onion and green peppers seasoned with some garlic and smoked paprika gives a beautiful flavour.
Adding some almond meal to the whisked eggs gives the omelette some body and holds the stuffing a bit better.

Recipe: pizza bianco with butter-fried girolles and Västerbotten cheese

For once I feel like I’ve had a proper summer. It’s been warm and sunny both here in London and in Sweden. I’ve still got a tan and I swam in the sea several times. Had al fresco meals and lots of rosé. One might think I’ve had enough of summer for now, but I would happily continue the summer for another few months. But, because we had a real summer I am also, at the same time, looking forward to autumn. To cosy nights in, lit candles, blankets, darker colours and heartier dinners. And red wine instead of rosé.
And just like the trench coat and the leather jacket are good transitional pieces in our wardrobes I feel this pizza is the ultimate transitional dinner dish.

Mushrooms always get me excited about autumn and their earthy taste is just what I’d want right now. Before the soups and stews…

Recipe: whole grilled turbot with olive oil, lemon and butter

I spent almost a whole week in Norfolk with my boyfriend’s family at the end of August. We had gorgeous weather (hello heatwave!) and such a lovely time.
And it must have been the nice weather and the proximity to the sea that inspired one of his sisters to barbecue a whole fish. And not just any fish, but a large (huge!) turbot! It was a nice size for the amount of people to feed but it did look ridiculous on the little coal barbecue we insisted on using.

Despite the poor optics it actually worked really well grilling the big fish and the actual cooking time was only approx 30 minutes. The hardest part was turning it over and making a secure tin foil parcel that size to hold all the butter!
I do hope we can inspire you to try new (and perhaps a little crazy) things! And…

Blueberry Crumble Muffins

I love blueberry muffins! I would even go as far as to say they are my favorite. When you make that crumble to put on the top…mmmm!! When they’re baking in the oven, the smell is going to be ridiculously amazing!! With your senses being tormented, you can’t wait for them to come out of the oven.
I’m not anti butter by any means, in fact, I am very much pro butter, but I like to eat my muffins plain.
When they come out of the oven, and they’re sitting all pretty on the cooling rack, I’ll wait until one is just cool enough to eat. I’ll have my cup of coffee in hand all ready to go! Breaking it open to see all those beautiful blueberries….Oh My Goodness!!!
You have got to make these! I promise you will not be disappointed!!
So go on, use up those blueberries that…

Plum Frangipane Muffins

Last weekend my husband and I traveled over to Lewes, Delaware. We like to go to this quaint little town every so often.
While we were there last week we went to the local farm market. I don’t know about you but I love meandering around farm markets. There’s something about a town coming together. All the venders bringing their best! The thought of having your pick of fresh fruits, vegetables, homemade cookies, cakes, breads….ohhhh the breads! Yummy!! This brings me to these plum muffins. As we were walking over to the table with a huge sign that said “Old World Breads” I found myself being really excited to see the different breads. My love for good crusty bread is real people! Taking my bread knife and slicing through a delicious loaf of yumminess….oh my!
Well, when we approached the table my eyes zoomed in on the most beautiful plum…

The UQÀM-University of Memphis epigraphic project at Karnak: goals, methodology and results
Since 2011, the University of Quebec in Montreal and the University of Memphis have been working on a joint project inside the vast Hypostyle Hall of the temple of Amen-Ra at Karnak (present-day Luxor) to investigate the hieroglyphic texts and scenes carved onto its 134 columns. The workshop will outline the context for this project, which is presented in the Museum’s family area, describing its objectives, methodology (which relies on technology) and the main results to date. More generally, it will focus on the temple of Karnak’s importance as a fundamental institution in pharaonic Egypt and will be illustrated with many objects from the site that are displayed in the exhibition Egyptian Mummies.
